Meet Matt & Amy

One week after moving out of a suburban neighborhood with a quaint backyard, we purchased our first handful of chickens and have continued to grow our farm in

—Alabama The Beautiful—

without looking back.

Growing up in suburban New Jersey, concerned with mani-pedis and wearing Abercrombie in eighth grade, I don’t think I would have ever pictured myself farming in Alabama, let alone living in any area deemed “The Deep South”. Though always a Jersey girl at heart, I love the hospitality, local homegrown food, and wide open spaces that the South offers. I guess this is who I was always meant to be, it’s a passion that was in my blood before I knew about it: my dad had chickens, a garden, and appreciated living closer to the Earth and his food sources when he was my age.

Matt’s always been a country boy at heart, growing up in the mountains of North Carolina. His momma gardens and cans -- I will never live up to her homegrown tomatoes, Matt, sorry! His dad grew up on his father’s farm and is continuing the tradition with a farm of his own. We are so lucky to have them as our resource for advice and encouragement.

After eight years together, the stars aligned and we were lucky enough to move to Huntsville where we could start on the adventure.

We keep busy in our “normal” lives between our careers (Matt is an engineer, Amy is a physician assistant) and raising our two children. But any chance we have we go outside, take care of the animals, fix what needs fixing, plant what needs planting, plan what needs planning, and enjoy all that our life on our farm has granted us.

Our personal hobbies on the farm have turned into our business, and because these have blended together, often each year what our farm has to offer to our community changes. Thanks for supporting us each year as our skills develop, our quality improves and our love for farm-fresh products spreads.
