The Mauldin Poultry Wars

Earlier this year, I went to visit my brother, Will, on his new farm up in Virginia called Stonewood Farm. We spent the weekend building a coop, chopping firewood, and watching the critters. Will had recently purchased chicks and ducklings to start his first farm enterprises. Amy and I had considered ducks in the past but always figured we would have to wait until we dug a pond. Turns out, ducks don’t really need a pond; a small kiddie pool and they are as happy as can be. As soon as I got home from VA, I went to Tractor Supply to purchase Storey’s Guide to Raising Ducks. After a few weeks of research, I ordered our first batch of adorable Pekin ducklings.

It has been a while since we are started a new enterprise on the farm. The last couple years we have tried to narrow our focus to sheep, seasonings, and garden products. It took some convincing but I finally won over the wife. These Pekin ducks grow to full processing size in just 7 weeks.

My brother got ducks. My dad got ducks. So I HAD to get ducks. Amy says my family FOMOs so hard. The Mauldin Poultry Wars have begun (she hates this)! We are currently behind; however, you can reserve your Whole Pekin Duck now and help us towards victory!
